Request certificateWhat is Epithalon?
Epithalon is a synthetic tetrapeptide with the sequence Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly, originally derived from epithalamin, a pineal gland extract. It has been examined in preclinical and in vitro research investigating telomerase enzyme activity, chromosomal telomere dynamics, and gene-expression patterns in cultured cell lines.
Epithalon was developed in the former Soviet Union during the 1980s by Professor Vladimir Khavinson, whose laboratory was investigating the biochemistry of the pineal gland. Khavinson's group was characterizing how pineal-derived peptide fractions changed across different research models.
From pineal gland extracts, Khavinson's team isolated a peptide fraction named epithalamin. To produce a defined, reproducible research compound, the group synthesized a simpler four-amino-acid sequence (Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly) and designated it Epithalon.
The peptide has since been examined in preclinical and in vitro publications exploring telomerase enzyme activity and chromosomal telomere measurements. This product is intended for research use only.
How should Epithalon be stored?
Research peptides are supplied lyophilized (freeze-dried) . Keep sealed vials cool, dry, and protected from light until reconstitution.
After reconstitution, refrigerate prepared solutions and use sterile technique. For general laboratory diluent and handling notes, see lyophilized peptide reconstitution .
